4 Day Introduction to Management

This practical and comprehensive four-day course uses psychometric tools, case studies, group discussions, management games and role plays to enable managers to challenge their current way of managing in the workplace.

Based on leading research and practice, the program is completely immersive. You gain rare and valuable time to focus entirely on yourself, reflect on your self-development, and create an action plan to apply back at work. It is highly interactive and will equip participants with the knowledge and tools to deliver improved results upon their return to work.

What will it cover?

Participants will attend our training room in Invergordon on four separate days over four months. It will cover all the key aspects of a management role. Day 1 will cover Leadership, Day 2 will be about Building High Performance Teams, Day 3 about Developing Individuals and Day 4 Achieving the task

This course is delivered over 4 months. Participants attend on the second Tuesday of each month.

Day 1 Leadership

Personal Leadership Style

  • Receiving feedback on your personal leadership style

  • Exploring self-perception and how others perceive you
  • The impact of your style on those you manage
  • Practical and applicable leadership models/tools
  • Identifying your personal strengths and areas for development

Day 3 Individual

  • Aligning performance to the organisational vision
  • Setting clear performance expectations
  • Coaching techniques to create high-performers
  • Creating the environment and opportunities for others to grow
  • Identifying the potential in others and creating a structured development plan
  • Providing motivational feedback and praise

Day 2 Team

  • Recognise the factors which contribute to successful team performance
  • Understand team dynamics and how to guide the team to successful performance
  • Build effective working relationships through effective communication
  • Use motivation techniques to inspire your team to higher performance levels
  • Prevent and resolve conflict

Managing Conflict

  • Establishing a positive working environment
  • Aligning personal and corporate values
  • Identifying your personal conflict handling style
  • Adapting your style to different situations
  • Practical techniques for dealing with conflict and difficult people

Day 4 Task

Achieving Goals through Resource Management

  • Planning, organising and utilising resources
  • Monitoring and controlling resources
  • Effective delegation when under time and priority pressure(s)

Challenging & Dealing with Under-Performance

    • Defining under-performance and the reasons for it
    • Giving constructive and timely feedback
